Women Caring and Counselling Centre (WCCC), in its activities, has over the years been fueled by its VISION to Change the less fortunate citizens into a resourceful populace of the nation. It was upon this vision that WCCC established a Vocational Skills Training Program in 2015. Its aim was to empower the youths, orphans and other vulnerable children with employable vocational skills that would help them become more self-reliant. The training activities are being conducted at our office premises in Kireka, Kireka Parish, Kira Municipality in Wakiso District. The skills currently trained include:
  1. Tailoring and garment designing,
  2. Hairdressing and cosmetology and
  3. Motor vehicle mechanics.
The program has also been affected by the Covid-19 lockdown whereby the training schedules were interrupted for several months (March-Sept). However, as soon as the lockdown was eased and quarantine lifted, the training activities resumed although many of the trainees had abandoned the program. Efforts are being made to locate them and encourage them to return for training.

We have partners that have supported this Vocational Skilling program since its inception. These include; La belle Beauty Products, Darling Hair products. These support the Hairdressing section and the Rotaract Club of Kyambogo sponsoring one trainee in the Tailoring section.

When we enroll trainees in motor vehicle mechanics, they carry out their training from Nyange Automobile Workshop in Kireka. Nyange Automobile Workshop has also in the past given start-up kits (tool boxes) to the trainees that had underwent training in motor vehicle mechanics.
